World Class Schools

World Class Schools of Leon County, Inc. is a non-profit business and education alliance between the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and Leon County Schools focused on creating a World Class system where all students achieve high academic standards and are prepared for post secondary education and direct high wage employment.

World Class Schools has been in existence in Tallahassee/Leon County since 1998 and was originated by the Florida Chamber Foundation as a long-term strategy to show business and civic leaders how to help Florida’s children acquire the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed as productive citizens.

World Class Schools of Leon County, Inc. will continue an aggressive program of work to include:

• School Safety
  Create, maintain and enhance the physical and emotional safety of all students and staff and the security of all facilities.
• School Reform
  Implement PreK-12 school reform and maintain high expectations for all students and staff. Create an environment offering motivation, acceleration options and individualized learning that will help all children succeed, improve the graduation rate, reduce dropouts, and close the achievement gap.
• Staff Effectiveness
  Ensure highly effective instructional, administrative and support staff to facilitate student and school success at every site. Create a positive learning environment, in which every student will have highly qualified teachers and every school will have qualified and effective leadership.
• Effective Magnet and Choice Options
  Ensure high quality, cost effective magnet and choice programs to offer options to students and keep them motivated. Evaluate under-utilized schools and establish technological, medical and other programs, to create high-tech, high-wage career alternatives for both college and non-college bound students.
• Parent/Community Communication and Involvement
  Create and maintain active partnerships with parents and community groups to support student achievement, school initiatives and shared decision making. Ensure a positive learning environment in all schools by continuing to engage and involve parents and guardians, and by keeping them knowledgeable of their child’s successes and struggles so that they may be better able to participate in helping reinforce their child’s efforts and accomplishments.

WorldClass Schools will continue to work to build the partnership between community businesses and our school system.
