Awards program lauds students for school and community service

Awarded for the WIRED Northwest Florida Initiative

On April 16, 2007 Florida's Great Northwest, Inc. awarded WIRED (Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development) grants to help develop and promote career skills training or intense, accelerated math and science training at the secondary educaiton level for post-graduation employment.

Godby High School Academy of Architecture, Engineering and Construction was awarded $98,493 with a match of $114,947 to produce graduates qualified for enty-level positions in the construction industry and who are also ready for continues post-secondary education and training.

The Academy of Academics and Technology was awarded $172,413 with a match of $323,957 to expand the existing Information Technology Career Academy program to include a Geospatial Technonlogy curriculum.
